No tricks or treats for an anthropologist after making a terrifying discovery inside a Florida store.
Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit detectives were called to a North Fort Meyers convenience store after a skull was found inside Saturday.
Deputies say the buyer, who happened to be an anthropologist, noticed the skull in the Halloween section and realized it was a real human skull.
Upon further investigation, detectives at the scene believed the skull was also human.

The store owner said the skull was in a storage unit purchased years ago.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is now working in conjunction with the 21st District Medical Examiner’s Office to facilitate further testing of the skull.

Investigators believe the case is not suspicious.
