Ghulam Nabi Azad targets Congress to join hands with NC, PDP in J&K

JAMMU: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) president Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday criticized the Congress for joining hands with the National Conference and the PDP in Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing a public meeting in Doda, he also targeted the NC and the People’s Democratic Party for their stance on the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Azad said the Congress earlier won seats in Jammu and Kashmir because of its efforts.
“Now all the three parties – NC, Congress and PDP – have come together. They are making allegations against us. They are just helping to divide votes… NC, Congress and PDP have come together to ensure BJP’s victory.” he said.
Azad formed the Azad Democratic Progressive Party after quitting the Congress in August last year.
He said it is a belief in the Congress that his exit would lead to the collapse of the party in Jammu and Kashmir, prompting it to align with the NC in order to survive in the region.
He also criticized the National Conference for its dynastic politics.
“They assumed that Ghulam Nabi Azad is in New Delhi and would continue to rule Jammu and Kashmir for generations to come. They were even preparing for a possible fourth generation. Did they feel why I came back to harm them? That’s why a disinformation campaign was started. against me,” Azad claimed.
